It was March of this year when I first received the mass email to apply for CaNoRock. As my roommate had gone on the second CaNoRock trip in October 2010, and my co-worker at SED Systems had gone to Norway in Early 2011, I knew how awesome it could be, so I went to work on my application. Now... usually when I write, I don't go through a rough draft at all (the engineer in me perhaps?). For the CaNoRock application, I went through several revisions (with some help from a previous student who spent a term in Norway), which just goes to show how much I wanted to do this.
So after sending in my application and having and interview with Kathryn (who is putting in a ridiculous amount of work into this program, by the way) I was accepted!
Then, the paperwork began.... Of course, when more than a couple universities are collaborating on a great project such as this, they all need your information. I think I'm mostly done now and friday the 30th, we take off!
The recent Air Canada union strike warning was having us a little on edge, as we have one flight on Air Canada to Calgary on the way there, and one on the way back.
Off to a lab!
